The Dos and Don’ts of Holiday Eating

As we head into Thanksgiving this week, people across the country are loosening their belts in preparation for the holiday season.

But, there’s no reason runners have to pack on the pounds just because of the time of year.

Often, the holidays are used as an excuse for a “30-day gorge fest,” says Krista Austin, founder of Performance and Nutrition Coaching who holds a PhD in exercise physiology and sport nutrition, when in fact Thanksgiving and Christmas are simply two meals a month apart.    Read full story….HERE

ER doctors warn about 10,000 volt wires in mud runs

Here is some news that may (or may not) shock you, pun totally intended: Those muddy obstacle course races everyone seems to be doing lately can be dangerous, especially when they involve obstacles charged with 10,000 volts of electricity, emergency physicians say.

Doctors confirmed this in a series of case studies looking at the injuries that happened during a Tough Mudder event in Philadelphia earlier this year. Of the 38 racers treated in the emergency department over that weekend in June, about half suffered electrical injuries.  Read full story….HERE
